BYD's United Kingdom technology page says the Blade Battery is a lithium iron phosphate battery. The page says BYD developed it and uses it in electric and hybrid vehicles. It says the battery is designed for a life of more than 5,000 charge cycles. That cycle figure is BYD's statement. [1]
BYD's India page says the Blade Battery was launched in 2020. It says a nail-penetration test produced neither smoke nor fire, and that the surface temperature reached 30 to 60 °C. The same page says a ternary lithium battery under the same test mostly exceeded 500 °C and burned. Those sentences are BYD's description of BYD's test. This page has no separate lab report. [2]
The blade name is a cell shape from BYD. It is not a second cathode chemistry. A car whose public text says blade battery is matched to this page. The match does not confirm the cell size or the test result for that car. [1]
