The Sealion 5 (Sealion 05 DM-i in China) plug-in hybrid is built in China. China-made EVs face a 100% Section 301 tariff on top of the 2.5% base duty (since Sep 27, 2024), and the Commerce Department's connected-vehicle rule bars software from China-linked automakers starting with model year 2027. The 100% rate covers plug-in hybrids as well as full EVs. BYD sells no passenger cars in the US.
